New Delhi, Pretr. Amid anger from Islamic countries over the remarks on Prophet Muhammad, Information Commissioner Uday Mahurkar said in a scathing manner that India should make a list of citizens who instigate Islamic countries. Also, such people should be prosecuted for sedition. On Mahurkar's stand, Supreme Court lawyer Prashant Bhushan alleged that the government was systematically destroying the statutory and constitutional institutions.
Former journalist and Central Information Commissioner Mahurkar tweeted on Thursday, saying, 'The country has taken steps on the controversy over the Prophet, now it is time for India to make a list of Indian citizens who incite Islamic countries against India. A case of sedition should be run against such people. He said in another tweet, 'These are anti-national activities. Property of such people should also be confiscated by enforcing a law.
Continuing the aggressive stance, Central Information Commissioner Mahurkar said supporters of Islamic countries and leftists have raised several questions on his tweet below. I want to ask him if he has ever condemned the hater Zakir Naik and the blasphemer MF Hussain. He cautioned that in the new era of national awakening, there will no longer be unilateral secularism and Hindu-Muslim unity at the cost of Hindus.
Opposing Mahurkar's point of view, Central Information Commissioner Prashant Bhushan said, "This gentleman calls himself a journalist and has been directly thrown into the Central Information Commission from somewhere." You can see how systematically this government is destroying the legal and constitutional institutions.
In response, Mahurkar said, "There is no need for the advice of such people who have consistently put their ideology above the national interest." As a writer, former journalist and patriotic citizen, I am entitled to express my views freely on national security and history. As an information commissioner also my orders should be scrutinized which have been issued impartially and without any fear. It is noteworthy that BJP has distanced itself from the rhetoric of former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma and Jindal, who was the media in-charge of Delhi BJP. Nupur was suspended for this while Jindal has been sacked.
