Peshawar, PTI. What is the number of minority Hindus in Pakistan? A report has been issued regarding this. According to a report by the Center for Peace and Justice, there are 22 lakh 10 thousand 566 (22,10,566) people of the minority Hindu community living in Pakistan. This number of Hindus is only 1.18 percent of the total registered population of the country 18 crore 68 lakh 90 thousand 601 (18,68,90,601).
Based on data collected from the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), the report said minorities make up less than five percent of Pakistan's total population, with Hindus as the largest minority community.
According to NADRA data till March, the total number of registered people in Pakistan was 18,68,90,601, of which 18.25 lakh 92 thousand (18,25,92,000) are Muslims. The report, which collected data on the basis of minorities receiving Computerized National Identity Cards (CNIC) from NADRA, confirmed 17 identities of different faiths and religions, including 1,400 atheists.
There are more than 74 thousand Sikhs in Pakistan
The report revealed that the number of registered Hindus is 22,10,566, followed by Christians 18 lakh 73 thousand 348 (18,73,348), Ahmadis 1,88,340, Sikhs 74,130, brothers 14,537 and Parsis 3,917. There are 11 other minorities in Pakistan, numbering less than 2,000, who have been issued a CNIC by NADRA.
According to the report, there are 1,787 Buddhists in Pakistan, 1,151, Shintoism followers 628, Jews 628, African religion followers 1,418, Kelasha religion followers 1,522 and Jainism has about six followers.
Most of the Hindu population is settled in the Sindh province of Pakistan.
Let us tell you that minorities in Pakistan have to face constant persecution. There are less than two percent Hindus in Pakistan. 95 percent Hindus live in the southern province of Sindh. The Hindu population in Pakistan is mostly poor and their representation in the country's legislative system is negligible. Most of Pakistan's Hindu population is settled in Sindh province where they share culture, tradition and language with Muslim residents. They often complain of harassment by extremists.
