The Mumbai Traffic Police on Wednesday gave a notice making head protectors required in any event, for those in the back and cautioned of activity against violators.
Permit will be suspended, fine of Rs 500 will be forced
An authority said that this standard will happen following 15 days, after which the traffic authorities will make a severe move against the violators. According to the notice, the traffic police have found that greater part of the bike riders in the city don't wear caps and abuse traffic rules. As indicated by the police, the driving permit will be dropped for quite a long time with a fine of Rs 500 for infringement.
1998 Motor Vehicles Act Amendment
This new rule comes after the public authority as of late altered the Motor Vehicles Act of 1998. In which a prompt fine of up to Rs 2,000 has been added for bike riders not wearing protective caps appropriately. According to the revision, a fine of up to Rs 2,000 can be forced in the accompanying circumstances:
- If the driver is wearing a helmet but his buckle is open. A fine of Rs 1,000 will also be imposed on this.
- If the helmet is not Bureau of Indian Standards certified, you can be fined Rs 1,000.
- Violations of other traffic rules such as crossing a red light will attract a hefty fine of Rs 2,000 even though wearing a helmet.
