Association Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday communicated shock over the explanation of an IAS official, who credited the breakdown of a piece of an under-development span in Bihar's Sultanganj to "solid breezes". On April 29, a piece of a scaffold being based on the waterway Ganga in Sultanganj had imploded during a tempest. Notwithstanding, there was no loss in this mishap. Talking at an occasion coordinated here, Gadkari said, "A scaffold had fallen in Bihar on April 29.

On asking his secretary the justification for this, he answered that it was because of solid breeze and fog. He considered how an IAS official could trust such a clarification. Gadkari said, 'I can't comprehend how the extension can implode because of wind and fog. There probably been a mix-up because of which this extension imploded. During the program the Minister pushed on the need to cut down the expense of development of extensions without settling for less on the quality.
NIT team investigated
Please tell that this bridge was being built at a cost of about Rs 1,710 crore. Thankfully there was no loss of life due to this accident. Pankaj Pal, Secretary, Rural Affairs Department, reached Sultanganj to investigate the matter. NIT team had also reached with him from Patna. The secretary said that the expert team of NIT Patna is investigating the matter. Significantly, the Secretary, Rural Affairs Department said that even after this incident, the work of construction of the bridge would be completed on time. The target of inauguration of the bridge was set in December, in any case, the work of construction of the bridge will be completed in December.
