Several names emerged after Chris Silverwood resigned from the post, among which Brendon McCullum, the former New Zealand captain and current head coach of Kolkata Knight Riders, won. His name was officially announced by England Cricket on Thursday. The appointment was made following the decision to pick all-rounder Ben Stokes as the captain. Before McCullum, Chris Silverwood was the coach of the England Test team.

McCullum, who is at present filling in as the lead trainer of KKR in the IPL, will join the England group toward the finish of this current month. It is accepted that he might break attaches with KKR in the wake of assuming control over the job of lead trainer of English Key. There is insight about him leaving as the lead trainer of the group after this season. Kolkata's group has played 12 matches and has two matches left in this season. The group will play the keep going match on May 18.

40-year-old McCullum is presently the mentor of IPL group KKR. He resigned from cricket in 2019 and has never taken care of the obligation of training the Test group. McCullum plays had a major influence behind the developing strength of the New Zealand group in Test cricket. The group brought home the debut World Test Championship last year.

McCullum favors forceful cricket and Rob Key, head of men's cricket at the England and Wales Cricket Board, said: "I trust the organization among Brandon and Ben Stokes as mentor and as commander will be rugged." McCullum's most memorable series with England will be against his nation's group New Zealand in June, with the initial Test beginning on June 2 at Lord's. McCullum said, "Playing this job, I am mindful of the colossal difficulties confronting the group right now and I accept that I will give my all to assist the group with managing them firmly."
