New Delhi, PTI. The Central Government has answered the request documented in the Supreme Court with respect to the arrival of hidden world wear Abu Salem. Association Home Secretary Ajay Kumar Bhalla has let the court know that the focal government is limited by the confirmation given by the then Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani to the Portuguese government that the most extreme sentence granted to Abu Salem wouldn't surpass 25 years.

The Center likewise said in the sworn statement that the legal executive is allowed to take choices as per relevant regulations in all matters including criminal matters and is not the slightest bit limited by any choice taken by the chief.
Hearing will be hung on April 21
The conference regarding this situation will happen on April 21. The matter is recorded for hearing before a seat of Justices SK Kaul and MM Sundaresh. The court had before requested that the Center explain its stand on the issue.
Hearing was held on February 2
Significantly, during the hearing on February 2, the court had sought the response of the Central Government on the petition filed by Abu Salem. Salem was sentenced to life imprisonment in the 1993 bomb serial bomb blast case. Salem had said in his petition that as per the terms of the extradition treaty between India and Portugal, he cannot be kept in jail for more than 25 years.
Was brought to India in 2005
Abu Salem was extradited to India in 2005 from Portugal. In this case, Salem has made the period of custody as the basis in the petition. Salem says his imprisonment should be counted from 2002 and not 2005. Salem has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the Mumbai builder Pradeep Jain murder case.
More than 250 people died in the bomb blasts
Let us tell you that in 1993 there were 12 serial bomb blasts in Mumbai, in which more than 250 people were killed and more than 700 people were injured.
